About us
Cofactor Designs was founded in 2012 by Jade Vinson, a professional mathematician and developer based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. What started as a passion project to celebrate the beauty of mathematical concepts through wearable art has grown into a unique jewelry business that bridges the gap between abstract mathematics and tangible beauty.
Our work has been recognized by the mathematical community – our Pythagorean earrings are featured at "Additions," the retail shop at the National Museum of Mathematics, where I also volunteer my time contributing to exhibit design. In 2013, the earrings were selected as exchange gifts at the prestigious "Gathering for Gardner" conference, celebrating the life and work of mathematical puzzle master Martin Gardner.
Our Pythagorean earrings aren't just jewelry – they're a wearable proof of one of mathematics' most fundamental theorems. When worn together, the left and right earrings demonstrate the geometric relationship that has fascinated mathematicians for millennia.
Today, Cofactor Designs has become a true family endeavor. My 6-year-old son has become our enthusiastic packaging and shipping assistant, carefully preparing each order for its journey to customers around the world. It's incredibly rewarding to see the next generation getting excited about both mathematics and entrepreneurship.
Every piece is designed with mathematical precision and crafted to celebrate the intersection of logic, beauty, and creativity – making mathematical truths visible and accessible to everyone.
